🤠 January 25 Homeschool Teen Dance Hoedown Recap + a THANK YOU!
Happy Thursday, everyone! We are SO thankful for all of your support for our Teen Dances and wanted to send over some updates:
1) Teen Hoedown Recap: I've been having so much fun helping DJ, lead dances and help the teens make friends, and I made a quick video on Instagram here for you to check out the new space a bit: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFSndWmpm2P
2) All of our dances this year will be $25 each! For those who don't know, these dance tickets cover a variety of things, like venue space, food/drink, new gadgets (we just got a new microphone set that works AMAZING for Karaoke now), and also our Jiu Jitsu Scholarship program for teens who may not be with a charter to pay for lessons. We often have homeschool vendors who also pay for Scholarship Dance tickets and we never want a teen to not be able to attend. If at anytime you have a financial hardship, please reach out.
3) Stricter Max Capacity: In our new space, we unfortunately have a new max capacity of 55 teens (60 max including our chaperones). BUT! We are also hoping to get the second room next door to us that will allow another 40 teens for food and drink (the main space we do not allow eating and drinking, currently all in lobby). That being said, we are scheduled to have it for March but would love to have it sooner if we can fundraise. Please spread the word about our February 15 Valentine's Dance and March 15 Spring Sing! Ticket Link below, and don't hesitate to buy tickets as we have had as many as 70 teens at past dances + chaperones.
4) Spotify Playlist Shares: We are going to be allowing more "Spotify Shared" Playlists with a few guidelines, as in teens can share their lists and I will review and add to our Dance playlist. For those who have been to our dances before, I try my best to screen lyrics as much as possible. I appreciate everyone's consideration and respect to the integrity and goal to provide a clean, safe space for our teens. Unfortunately half of the music requested is not work/family/safe and some teens may not understand that, but I will try my best to check song requests. If your teen has a playlist to share, please send it over.
5) Teen Dance Committee: I'm looking for FIVE teens who would be interested in becoming part of our organizing teen committee. In high school, I was part of student government and this is definitely something I would like to start for homeschoolers. Committee would be in charge of helping with setup, teardown, promotions, decors, ticket sales, etc. I'm hoping this committee can meet on Mondays when our Gameschooling group (but open to other days). I have went back and forth in having other parents plan, but I really think it would be great to have our teens contribute to these efforts.
Sorry this was such a long recap and if you read it all, I appreciate you! Thanks again for helping make these dances so great.

Thanks again, and please purchase tickets ASAP for February 15 and March 15! Please note, we will not be hosting any formals in April or May (due to HEC and PCA's Proms), but we will be hosting casual dances these months. Please feel free to chime in on date and theme requests.
